POSITIVE PARENTING WORKSHOP
Most parents report that there is nothing in life more frustrating than bedtime, begging children to do their chores, herding them out the door on time, and manipulating them to do their homework. Do you find parenting to be difficult? Do you hate the whining and arguing? We were not taught parenting skills in school. Nearly all of us certainly were not taught good parenting at home. Raising children seems to be a mystery, but it doesn’t have to be. We really can learn how to raise a child, who is loving, responsible and happy. No kidding.
Parenting is one of the most important responsibilities we will ever take upon us, and yet what training do we receive for this awesome task? In school we learn algebra, history, and English, but not how to raise happy and responsible children. We receive no parental guidance training or how to deal with stress of being parents.
Parents are guides, teachers, protectors and providers to their children. Playing so many roles at the same time can be both wonderful as well as a challenge. We always want to be good at parenting but there is always a feeling of uncertainty whether we are doing it the right way. Sometimes in the process of juggling between the demands of work and taking care of the child, it is natural to feel burdened.
Our lack of preparation is reflected in the condition of our children. They often sulk and glare at us. They fail to carry out the responsibilities we give them. They don’t do their homework. They argue and fight with one another. They make a great deal of noise, often with the generous assistance of amplifiers and speakers. They bring their problems and bad attitudes to school, where they’re disruptive and irresponsible. And that’s just the beginning!
We have always wanted to be perfect parents and we expect our children to grow up in a perfect manner. In the process of defining what that ‘perfect’ can be, we end up comparing ourselves to others around and get disappointed when the results don’t match our expectations. Being pushy or compelling the child to live up to the demands of the society today can lead to unwanted stress and anxieties in both the parent and the child.
Positive parenting workshop is designed for those well intentioned parents who are dedicated for better outcomes for their children. These workshops are reflective in nature and experiential in learning and are structured to offer simple and practical solution to what appears to be a complex prospect…Parenting
